From Skepticism to Praise: Why Overseas Stadium Projects Choose to Accept "China Standard" Space Frames
In large-scale stadium construction, large-span space frame structures are highly favored for their aesthetic appeal and superior load-bearing capacity. However, when partnering with Chinese construction teams, many overseas developers initially raise the same question: "We are used to local codes; can China standards deliver?"
Recently, this challenge was successfully overcome during negotiations for a key stadium grid structure project abroad. The Chinese team not only secured the full life-cycle service covering design, production, fabrication, and installation, but also successfully convinced the client to fully adopt Chinese National Standards (GB).
"Convincing clients requires data and technical benchmarking, not just slogans," stated the project's technical director. In response to the client's stringent requirements, the design team conducted a side-by-side computational comparison between China standards, Eurocodes, and US standards. The results proved that under identical wind loads and seismic intensities, the grid structure optimized under China standards offers superior rigidity and stability, while allowing for more standardized and modular component fabrication.
Since production and fabrication are completed in our domestic factories, utilizing China standards enables "zero-gap integration between design and manufacturing," drastically reducing errors caused by drawing conversions. When the first batch of precision-engineered space frame joints and members arrived at the overseas site and were flawlessly assembled by the Chinese installation crew, the client spoke highly of the execution. This success demonstrates yet again: with solid expertise, China standards can absolutely become the preferred choice in the global market.
